Two things - Warlock Pet Names/Spell Distance
Ok - there are two things I was just wondering about:
1.) Why can't Warlocks rename their pets? I don't see why Hunters can, but Warlocks cannot.
2.) Why is it that spell distance takes terrain into account? When my spell says it's got a 41 yard range, why is it that when I'm on bumpy terrain the distance shortens quite a bit? It makes no sense to me. 41 yards in the air is 41 yards. My fireball is going in a direct line, not following the bumps on the ground... There's no reason for it to ever take terrain detail into account.

Warlocks can't rename their pets because they're summoned minions. They're demons not beasts ...

That make sense, sort of.
Just because it's a demon doesn't mean it can't be renamed. It's still a minion, a slave, a pet...
There are also named beasts that are generically renamed when you tame them.
So it still doesn't quite make sense to me.

1. You can call your demon toby all you want, his real name is Kunta Kinte. The Demon is a sentient and self aware being who would try to kill you had you not subjugated it. A Hunter's pets become his friends. I am one lock who likes the game not being able to name my minion.
2. Can't help much on that one except to say it is probably more trouble to code it "as the crow flies" than use linear "over the land" distance, especially since you have to keep AOE spells balanced and they have to use "over the land" for their area

Hunters tame a wild beast and then rename it. They must keep it tame (or happy) to maintain its loyalty or it will run off.
Warlocks don't tame, they summon, and they are able to summon because they know the demons true name. If you were to rename it, you could no longer control it.

It is amusing to see another 'lock with a minion with the same name as yours.
I was on a boat and my felguard had the same name as the other 'locks felguard. They were a gnome as well.

/agree. I like my demon names and think of all the pain of terrible names it saves us from also.
